Copper is an excellent conductor. What this means is that once ice, vodka, and ginger beer (or homemade ginger syrup) hit the cup, the cup becomes the same temperature as the liquid being poured. This also means that while your cup sits in direct sunlight, it transfers the energy it absorbs into your beverage. This isn't a bad characteristic, it's entirely enjoyable to have an ice cold mug against your lips as you sip on a cocktail on a warm summer day. However, if you're expecting to have an ice cold drink for hours after its creation, you'll be disappointed. Condensation on the mug is a huge identifier of the LACK of insulation offered by its copper construction.
Copper does react naturally to what you put inside it. It enhances flavors and aids in the re-creation of a cocktail you've tried at the local hot spot.
The hammered look and hand soldered handles are aesthetically pleasing. I am unsure that they are 100 percent hand made but, they look great and have consistency that wouldn't be possible for the most skilled craftsman. Some things are worth the saved effort. I wouldn't say that their “consistency” detracts from the aesthetics.
Wanna make a delicious Mule?
4oz Ginger Beer
1.5oz Vodka
.5oz fresh squeezed lime juice
Add it all together with some ice, in a copper mug, and BAM, delicious Mule.
Pour into the Mug and you have an excellent drink experience.
Disclosure: I received this product at a discount in exchange for my honest, fair and unbiased review.
